How does the Rotomat revolving automatic shelving unit work?

From the outside, the automatic Rotomat shelving unit looks like a cabinet with a window to retrieve/deposit documents, whereas inside the shelves move in a vertical carousel fashion. The operation of the shelving unit is simple and fast. In order to retrieve the documents from the shelving unit, the user, by means of a keyboard or a bar code reader, calls the appropriate shelf that immediately travels towards the window. The operation of the shelving unit always takes place at the same, ergonomic, position, and there is no need to bend or climb a ladder. The access to all documents is fast and easy. Even if the requested file are on the top shelf at the time, the shelving unit will choose the shortest route of rotation, and the documents will reach the collection point immediately.

Flexibility

Each Rotomat shelving unit is designed “to size” according to the user’s requirements and needs, both in terms of the external dimensions and the shelves to store the documents. It can store files of various sizes, stored in bulk, in folders, in hanging folders, envelopes, boxes, etc. It is also a very convenient way to store documents of custom size and CD media, payment cards, etc., because the selection of the various kinds of partitions, drawers, containers is vast.

Documents safety and protection

Important files stored in the Rotomat shelving unit can be easily protected against unauthorized access since the shelving unit window is locked, and the access is controlled by means of the control panel. If there is such a need, the Rotomat shelving unit can be operated only by selected users holding identification tags with a bar code, a PIN code, etc. Locking the shelving unit also protects the stored documents against dust or light. There is also possibility to air-condition the Rotomat shelving unit when the storage of the archive documents requires appropriate ambient conditions.
